Question by pipi: Does anyone know any book or novel that is like retold fairy tales that happens in modern World?
Yeah, I hear someone of my friends said there is that kind of novel. I already read Beastly (beauty and the beast) by Alex Flinn, and waiting to read her next novel is: A Kiss In Time (Sleeping Beauty?). They all happen in 21st century.
Does anyone know anymore books like those two above? Please tell me. And it is for teen, I don’t want to read story for 2-3 grade like the book my sister gave me.

3 little pigs speaks to the power of bad breath!
seriously if you want to find some ‘fairy tales’ with lessons, some of the more obvious ones could come from Aesop’s Fables. The reasoning or the lesson is much more apparent.

What Are Your Favorite Disney Movies?

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

Many people assume that because I am such a big Disney fan, I must love EVERY Walt Disney film ever made. That is simply not the case. I do indeed like a great many Disney Films, and there are very few classic Disney tiles that I don’t like at all. However, there are several that I just do not enjoy. Some of the early animated titles, such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinnichio, and Cinderella are films that I don’t particularly enjoy. I do occasionally watch them however, for historical reasons.

Should We Stop Our Children From Watching Fairytales Where There Is A Character Of Evil Witch?

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Should we stop our children from watching fairytales where there is a character of evil witch? For example the Snow white or the Beauty and the Beast.

My eldest daughter is 5 years old. Recently she is becoming very attached to the glamorous princess characters such as Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White etc. These fairy tales are her bedtime cuddles. She was having a stay over from one of her friends where her friend’s parents also came. After a while my daughter wanted to see Snow White Disney cartoon which I allowed her to borrow from the local library. Her friends parents protested instantly. Their view is- it is a ‘scary story’ and we ought not to allow our children to watch these sort of movie.
Hmmmmmmmmmm.
To avoid any further argument, I played the Mickey Mouse cartoon instead.
